OOTD: Finding Myself Again in Spring

Do you have any idea how happy I am that it’s springtime? I know it’s not very “blogger” to prefer another month to the pinnacle of life that is OMGAUTUMNILOVEAUTUMN but sorry. I just do.

I love sunglasses and iced tea. I love wearing no tights. I love cherry blossom trees, tulips and daffodils. And I love pink lips, messy hair and glowy, no-makeup make up. I just think I become more myself in spring. Especially when it comes to my personal style.

 It’s just so much more compatible with warmer weather and sunnier days, which is kind of funny considering coats are one of my favourite things in life. That’s the thing with autumn and winter though – you can just throw on a big coat and a pair of jeans and boots and that’s you done. Autumn fashion is okay, but I feel like a lot of people wear the same things in the form of high necked jumpers, black jeans, plaid shirts and ankle boots. Does that sound familiar?

In spring, I think, you’re so much less restricted by the weather. I may be being sliiiightly optimistic because in Wales is it ever really warm and dry? (No). I just like to take the best of all the seasons at once with big chunky boots, tights if I want them, sunglasses, and dresses and skirts. I just look like me and I think other people notice, too.

This kind of dress, with it’s dark colours and netted overlay, would not look out of place on an autumn stroll through a park with thick tights, a fur coat and a fedora. But I loved how it looked on a sunny day with bare legs and patent, Doc Marten style boots and some cute gold jewellery. I think it gave the dress a bit more edge, because I imagine someone else could style this dress way more bohemian or chic and look awesome, obviously. 

I also really like contrasting accessories, especially in spring (Do you sense a trend? I like everything about spring…). If I wear pretty shoes like sandals or pumps I like wearing a chunky rings or a dark lace choker. Or with badass leather-style boots like today, a dainty necklace and rings. Warmer weather and springtime just gives me more wiggle-room to experiment more and embrace my personal style. I love it.
