But also, one shouldn't forget all the downright STUPID stuff that had us talking, speculating and obsessing . And there are a lot of them...
1. Black and blue or white and gold? That bloody dress. The conundrum that kept the nation up at night, I still can't help but feel wholly betrayed by my own eyes - that dress was white and gold, dammit! I have of course, provided the picture to send you all crazy again.
2. The Kardashian-Jenner clan. Remember Flappy Bird and that sausage rap? I thought the Kardashians would follow in their footsteps and end up in the same abyss as obsessions past, but 2015 has solidified their presence in the world and I'm almost certain that 2016 will see one of them as President of the US. Just you wait.
3. The "Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge". WHY WAS THIS A THING? This is the aforementioned impact that this family has on the world - they had girls all over the world sticking their faces in shot glasses to emulate the famous pout of Miss Jenner. Needless to say it did not succeed.

5. Man Buns. I have very little to say about this except can this just please stay in 2015? Not a fan at all, I'm afraid. If you are a fan, and this picture doesn't ruin it for you then I have nothing to say to you...

7. "On fleek". Everything and everyone has been on fleek this year. Especially brows, and if yours aren't, quite frankly, why are you even here?
8. Star Wars. Star Wars here, Star Wars there, Star Wars everywhere. You could hardly walk in to any shop and not be immediately assaulted with a thousand and one Star Wars products. I don't even like Star Wars and even I am now the (not-so) proud owner of a Darth Vader cake, Princess Leia headband, a poster and have been eyeing up a tote bag for a few weeks... I JUST CAN'T HELP IT!!
9. Some weird AF make up trends. How many of you have tried strobing, or "cooking" a contour a la Kim Kardashian (See, told you) or over lining your lips to get the Kylie Jenner look without the suction (and again...). Rainbow/glitter roots, bubble nails (get back to wherever you came from pls) and dying armpit hair gloriously bright colours... 2015 is a strange place.

Ohmygod this post is on fleek! 2015 made me question and wheep for society so many times! I DONT CARE ABOUT THE DRESS! How the hell did it ever make news?!
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best for 2016 my dear x x
Jaaaybeeeee! I still recall that time, omg it’s embarrassing. There’s nothing funnier than the year 2015. It was yesterday when my brother explained to me the types of transcription in qualitative research, and I felt so dumb because, at this age, I was busy being a belieber! But ngl, I think that the eenie-minnie-miney-mo lover time is kinda back hahaha ;)
ReplyDeleteIt’s a good time to reflect – as the year is coming to an end. Reflection is good at times. Introspection clears confusion – at least it does for me. Whenever I am confused about anything, I reflect and introspect. I have been guilty of not doing that for a long time. I guess it’s time I have a much-needed conversation with myself because there are a lot of things worrying me – I have to look for Sociology Of Education Dissertation Topics for my final dissertation. I have to decide what I am going to do after I graduate. I also have to lose those extra pounds that I have gained during the last few months and many more things. Not to mention, I have to be grateful for all the good things. After I am done reading this post, I will do just that.
