My Top Spring Trends & How to Wear Them

I waffled on in a whole post about how much I love spring fashion, so that's not news. This spring in particular though, the trends are just SCREAMING MY NAME. I want to wear everything. The fact I have literally zero money is absolute torture at the moment.

A lot of the trends and key pieces that are everywhere at the moment, luckily I already have in my wardrobe from seasons past so I can re-purpose them for SS17 and no ones any the wiser. Until now, obv.

Band Tees

Or just generic rock-style. This is SO up my street - it's a dream come true seeing all these classic album artworks and band emblems emblazoned across t-shirts everywhere. The best part of this trend is that these tops are GRUNGE AF. Ripped, scuffed, sleeves torn off, front cut low and laced back up – They’ve had a much more “fashion” make over, and while I’d normally say if it ain't broke don't fix it, I absolutely love the look.

New Look / Urban Outfitters / Primark / Topshop / PrettyLittleThing

Wear: Embrace another trend and buy oversized (like mega oversized) and wear with fishnet tights and trainers or over the knee boots. Or for a more “easy to wear” look for spring, pair with white skinny jeans or a denim skirt. Literally can't go wrong.

Mules/Backless Loafers

I never would have thought I’d wear a pair of shoes like this but I love how effortlessly cool they look. I’m not so much into low maintenance “jeans and a tee” fashion but when I have just wanted to chuck something on to make it look like I’ve made an effort, they’ve been perfect.. Buy them with embroidery or embellishments to make a statement, or plain black or nude to go with anything.

Office / Deichmann / Zara / Topshop / Ego / H&M
Wear: Either wear a bold patterned, embroidered or even metallic pair to make a statement with an otherwise simple outfit, or a simple pair to add effortless cool and class. I especially love them with frayed and uneven hem jeans. If you’re a fan of the pleated trouser, a simple pair with ankle grazing pleated trousers pair is to die for.

Embroidery

This was big in Autumn/Winter and apparently it’s not going anywhere. YAY. I adore embroidery, although on the high street it does seem to be the exact same pinky red flowers embroidered on to everything… I’m personally a bigger fan of embroidered accessories and denim, than anything else. (Especially those dunagrees, below *heart eyes for days*)

Topshop / New Look / Needle & Thread / Topshop / Miss Selfridge / Quiz / ASOS
Wear: I think one of the cutest and easiest ways to wear it is a simple, oversized jumper over a pair of embroidered jeans. 10 points to hufflepuff if you add backless loafers. I also highly recommend buying some embroidered patches off eBay for a couple of quid and getting your nan to stitch them to ANYTHING (or everything) you own to jazz it up for SS17.

Denim Skirts

Denim is literally my one true love. I love all manifestations of denim from jeans to jackets to dungarees, and all colours and washes. Can you tell I fucking love denim? I was made for the 90s, I swear. A denim skirt is definitely the prettiest way to wear denim and they’ve come along way from the frumpy skirts I wore when I was 6 with aaall the different styles.
Primark / Mango / Topshop / JD Williams

Wear: Can you even contend with the classic denim mini with a plain white tee? Maybe if you add a cute slogan or ripped up band tee and converse. Or even a white bardot style top with a choker. For when the British weather is still a bit “inbetween” (Inbetween frostbite and just mildly freezing, obvs), throw on a slouchy jumper, ankle boots and layer lots of dainty necklaces.

  1. I'm loving embroidery at the minute, it's absolutely everywhere and I can't help but pick up something with it on whenever I'm out and about. That skirt from JD Williams is so cute, I'd never even think to shop there, may have to have a browse!xx
